Smile Makeover

Dr. McCargar loves to create custom smiles! For many people, a Smile Makeover is a great way to achieve the beautiful, winning smile that you have always wanted.

What is a Smile Makeover?

Unlike full mouth restorations which are necessary to repair decayed or damaged teeth, a Smile Makeover is a cosmetic dentistry process that you choose to have done in order to create a gorgeous smile.  A Smile Makeover improves your smile by using one or more dental procedures including porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, composite bonding, Invisalign, porcelain crowns, or dental implants.

What can be corrected by a Smile Makeover?

When first meeting with Dr. McCargar to discuss a Smile Makeover, he will begin by asking you what you like and dislike about your smile and your teeth. Smile Makeovers can be used to correct a number of problems, and every Smile Makeover done at Scottsdale Dental Arts is customized to address the individual needs of each patient.

Some of the aspects of your smile that can be improved by a Smile Makeover include dark or discolored teeth, missing teeth, misaligned, overlapping or crooked teeth, teeth that are too short, too long, too thin, too wide, or teeth that create a smile that is unbalanced, gummy, or generally out of proportion.

What considerations go into planning my Smile Makeover?

To create a picture perfect smile, more than just the teeth must be taken into consideration. In addition to the color, alignment, and shape of your teeth, Dr. McCargar will consider your facial shape, skin tone, feature proportion, and even your gender and age to help you create your dream smile. Your Smile Makeover will begin with Dr. McCargar photographing you from a variety of angles, taking measurements of your lip and gum lines, and then analyzing the relationship between the tip of your nose and your lower jaw. Together, you will decide on the way that you want your individual smile to look. Once your Smile Makeover is underway, Dr. McCargar will ensure that the shape, length, width, and color of your teeth are in symmetry with the rest of your face.

How long will my Smile Makeover last?

Smile Makeovers, like other dental procedures, require good oral hygiene to be maintained.  Over time, dental crowns and porcelain veneers may chip or break off and need replacement. Teeth whitening will need to be repeated, and tooth colored bonding may stain and need to be replaced or enhanced.  To extend the life of your Smile Makeover, choose a good, qualified cosmetic dentist and high quality materials. Daily brushing and flossing, along with professional cleanings and exams will also help to ensure that your Smile Makeover will remain bright and beautiful for many years.
